Big Bass Bonanza vs Bigger Bass Bonanza: Two Pragmatic Play Releases Compared

The two releases and what this comparison shows

Big Bass Bonanza and Bigger Bass Bonanza are the first two titles in Pragmatic Play's Big Bass series. Comparing them is a good way to learn how a sequel builds on an original: the fishing theme and the idea of collecting fish values stay, while the structure of the feature and the stated maximum change. This guide uses only Pragmatic Play's own game page and its two launch announcements, and it notes where the sources describe things in different terms.

If you have not met the original yet, our Big Bass Bonanza overview covers the basics first.

What each release is, according to the studio

Pragmatic Play announced Big Bass Bonanza on 14 December 2020 as a 5x3 slot. It announced Bigger Bass Bonanza on 17 September 2021, describing it as a continuation of its predecessor with an extended set of reels. The studio's announcement does not give the exact grid size of the sequel, so we do not state one here. Introducing the sequel, Yossi Barzely, Pragmatic Play's Chief Business Development Officer, said that "the light-hearted theme has been fleshed out with various new features".

Two rows deserve a closer look. First, the free spins trigger: the original uses a fixed table of 10, 15 or 20 spins, while the sequel starts at 10 and adds five for each scatter beyond three. For three, four or five scatters both approaches happen to give the same counts, so the difference is mainly in how the rule is expressed. Second, the stated maximum. The sources do not measure the same thing: the original's game page gives a top value for a single money symbol, while the sequel's announcement gives a maximum win and says it virtually doubles the original's maximum multiplier. We report both figures as the studio states them rather than converting one into the other.

How the change feels in practice

The visible difference for a newcomer is the meter above the reels in the sequel. In the original, wild collection and retrigger progress happen on the reels and in the counters; in the sequel, the collected wilds are shown on a dedicated meter, which makes progress towards the next retrigger easier to track. That is a presentation change as much as a rules change, and it is a good example of why it is worth reading each paytable rather than assuming a sequel behaves like the original.

Demo availability

Pragmatic Play's own site hosts a free demo of the original Big Bass Bonanza, which we have checked. We have not checked a demo source for Bigger Bass Bonanza, so we do not point to one here. Third-party copies exist widely, but we cannot confirm which version they run.

Summary

Bigger Bass Bonanza keeps the original's fishing theme and fish-collecting feature, adds an extended set of reels and a wild meter above them, expresses its free spins rule differently, and states a maximum win of up to 4,000x the stake. The original remains the simpler place to learn the series. For more studio and series guides, see our providers section. Neither game's features change the odds of a spin, and the paytable of the version you open is always the final reference.
